Things that Kojève said.

Begin: "The Concept is the coherent whole of conceptual understanding which lays claim to truth"

i) "The Concept is Time"
ii) "Time is History"
iii) "History is Man"
iv) "Man, therefor, is the Concept"

End: "Therefor, Man is the coherent whole of conceptual understanding which lays claim to truth."

In other words: "History ends with the incarnation of absolute knowledge in Man."

In yet other words: "At the end of history, Man incarnates the totality of the Concept and becomes God."

-- Alexander Kojève, Introduction to the Reading of Hegel, Eighth Lecture, (1938-1939)
...

This is what I have to deal with in my professional life. -_-;

And will the Christian students kindly stop giggling. Yes, for you, history ended two thousand years ago in these terms: this is just Kojeve interpreting Hegel so that he doesn't have to deal with that fact. Sure, it's silly, and a pathetic waste of time for the rest of us, but it will be on the test.
