Pre-New Year's Eve @ Cat's

M@$!#$)@ing camera!!! Aaarrrghhhh! Too - Damn - Slow. :-(

Taking photos of dancers in motion is difficult enough with the best of equipment, but it becomes a real journey into frustration when your digital camera has a lag-time of three to four-hundred milliseconds, and a reload time of two seconds. Those stats are fine for taking still-life photos, or shots of predictable motion, but they blow hard when the subjects are swing dancers in a dark room. The lag-time effectively forces me to anticipate movements at least one bar ahead of time - which is bloody well next to impossible with this type of dance to begin with - find a position & angle with a clear view, and press the shutter-button 0.4 seconds before the movement I expect - and the kicker is that the reload time ensures that there is no second chance at the shot.

I've sworn outloud more frequently tonight than I had in the previous three weeks. The frustration of missing over a dozen perfect shots because of camera-lag... Arrr. Mother-Of-A-Putrified-Frickin'-Hell!!!

*Sigh* The band was good though. :-/
