The Coxcomb Bird

"The coxcomb bird, so talkative and grave,
That from his cage cries Cuckold, Whore, and Knave,
Though many a passenger he rightly call,
You hold him no Philosopher at all."
-- Alexander Pope, (1688-1744)

(Note: the passage makes a bit more sense when you consider that the cap of the court fool or jester was sometimes referred to as their "coxcomb", for its rooster-like appearance. In the court of a tyrant, only the fool speaks the truth, thereby stepping into the traditional role of the philosopher at court.)
