Digging for words

The used bookstore in Montreal's downtown "Forbourg" building represents quite the shopping challenge. On the one hand, the shop is possessed of thousands of individual volumes offered at sharply discounted prices. On the other hand, there's barely the faintest hint of organization in the whole mess; books are clumped together in vauge super-groups such as "Literature" or "Humanities", and then further subdivided into hard-cover and soft-cover sections.

Despite all that, I managed to run across volumes of collected essays by both Martin Heidegger and René Descartes by stumbling upon the long-forgotten secret of locating lost philosophical texts: look, and learn to see only the runt volumes among the piles of glossy pop-lit - those with cover-art that look as if it were miscarried from the dulled mind of a life-long Valium addict. Learn to see only those, and you will have learnt to see the path to enlightement. Or at least a near fascimile.
