Well, the world is just full of surprises this week; less than a few months after it was revealed that the United States Coast Guard - which, is currently under the authority of the Department of Homeland Security (DoHS) - has been arming vessels that patrol the Great Lakes, it has been announced that the DoHS has begun patrolling the Canada-U.S. border in Montana. Thus far, the new wing deployment includes two Blackhawk helicopters, a pair of Cessna Citation jet interceptors, and a Pilatus reconnaisance aircraft, with plans to add unmanned aerial drones in the future and expand the project to include most of the 49th parallel.

"World's Longest Undefended Border"? Hmmmm. It seems like Canada is going to get a first-hand feel for what it's like to be Mexico.

On another subject, does anyone find it slightly unnerving that the DoHS is allowed to operate enough military aircraft to patrol the world's longest international border?
