Book 'im Danno.

When I finally got home today, I found evidence at my door that I'd received the cardboard-packaged fruits of the holiday season; a series of books that I ordered from Chapters and Amazon.com, using the (massive) store credit that I received in gift-certificates from Dad, and from my good friend V.B. I think that I might be getting a bit predictable; if I only receive a pile a gift-certificates from The Bay on my birthday, I may have to start to become concerned. Among other things, I also received a copy of C.Taylor's "A Secular Age" from Rose, a nice watch from my sister, and a fine sweater from my grandparents.

As for the books that I picked out (most of which will be of no interest to most people, but which are very useful or interesting to me):

  • Collected Works of Plato, hardcover

  • The Lankavatara Sutra, hardcover

  • The Mulamadhyamikakarika, softcover

  • The Path of Purification (Visuddhimagga), hardcover

  • Volume Five of the Collected Works of Eric Voegelin, hardcover

  • An Autobiography of Frankie Manning (not actual name), still in transit

Altogether, that should total a little under six-thousand pages, or six-kilograms, of reading. Add-in "A Secular Age" and the reading that I didn't quite finish over the Summer and it looks closer to being twelve kilos. At this rate, I might not need to renew my Gym membership...
