Hypnos & Breathing

Recently, I've taken to wearing nasal-strips at night, to help with my breathing and in an effort to improve my quality of sleep. I realized some time ago that the sinuses on my right side weren't draining properly, due to a deviated septum, and that my breathing was disrupted because of it: I'd often wake-up to find that I couldn't breathe through the right side of my nose.

Abstractly, I knew that that couldn't possibly be improving my quality of sleep, but I hadn't done much about it, except to try to sleep on my back with my head tilted slightly to the right. Don't ask me why that improved drainage, but it does help. At any rate, it seems like some of my dormant allergies might have become a bit more active this year, and so its been a bit more of an issue. The nasal strips do seem to help noticeably; I've woken up from laying on my side, to find that I could breath more or less normally.

It's another expense -- a substantial one -- but lone less costly than sleep apnea.
