My mom passed away last night; she was recovering on the eighteenth floor of the Montreal General Hospital from emergency surgery meant to remove remove scar-tissue from her intestines. Her dear friend Andrea was with her during the last minutes when her heart seems to have unexpectedly failed; I arrived at her room last of all, some hours later. I only had opportunity to sit next to her on the bed after she passed. I held her hand for some time, ran my fingers through her hair, and kissed her temple before the nurses arrived; it's all I had time to do.

Diane Linda Cordner, age 54; teardrops7

"Oh jati, my jati,
How far you have gone...
Where are you?"

I know my voice is a bit distant to you now, but I send my condolances, and see reflected in your love for her a lovely person, whose passing will interrupt many conversations and cause many more to intensify.

The traditional mourning plant for us is Ignatia amara -- see if you can find a branch to display or a leaf to throw into a pitcher of water (either practice is acceptable, oddly enough -- my grandfather's funeral saw several people bringing pitchers to the house.)

Take care.

I know you may not know who I am but my name is Sharon and I knew Diane online. I just wanted you to know that she was one of the most special, wonderful people I have ever met and she touched many people and made them happy. I am going to miss her very very much and please let me know if there is anything I can do or even if you'd just like to chat. She was very proud of you.

My most sincerest condolences... Your Mom, for the time I knew her here on LJ, was a wonderful person, full of love, and time for all around her...

It fills me with sadness to hear of her passing, and you have my deepest sympathies.

May you find the strength to take you through this trying time...

I knew your mom through another on-line friend, fire_fox01. The news of Diane's passing is a great shock to me. She was a very sweet soul. I'll miss her. The world seems a bit grayer now.
